Stop
Today I went to the ‘big city’ nearby our tiny village. That’s no problem ansich. I had just missed my bus (not my fault! tha bus is always too early and I’m perfectly on time) so I was glad when I saw the next bus after 15 minutes listening to my music and doing stupid dance steps at the pavement. Ok that was that, and finally I sat in the right bus heading to the city. Well… I have a ‘tranfser’ where I have to go in the tram. Well I missed that tram too, bummer (again not my fault ofcourse).
I had to wait another ten minutes, but I had my music, my foolish dance steps and the sun shined nice. So I sat on the bench doing nothing until I saw something in the corner of my left eye.
A little boy from 14 was cleaning his wallet and he threw used bustickets at the ground. Not once… not twice… but tree times! And I have learnt that the third time is the trick, so I had to say something about his behaviour. That is easy said but the fact is that I am not really brave plus it was a boy from foreign descent and sorry but they’re always a bit cheeky.
So with my innocent voice I began to speak: eh, ehm sorry. But you threw something on the ground. Could you put it in dust-bin please, that’s better for the environment?
He: excuse me?
I: ehh put your things in the dust-bin and not on the street. Please?
He: nahh, I don’t feel like it. Besides, look around: everybody throws their rubbish on the ground so I can do that too.
… and, are you expecting of me that I said something back like ‘no that’s bad too and it’s no big deal’? Too bad: no. I turnt back, putted my music on again and waited until the tram came. Of course, it was my duty to say something about his behaviour but I didn’t have the guts and I didn’t feel like being sweared at.
The society has still much to learn in the year 2009.
